About Leigh Alexander

Leigh Alexander and one of her catsI am a licensed acupuncturist specializing in the Classical Five Element style of Acupuncture. I had previously worked as a Financial Software Consultant/Analyst which I found to be demanding, stressful and eventually not at all fulfilling. Once I realized I wasn’t happy, I embarked on a discovery process to find something I could both enjoy and offer long-term.

I had received acupuncture treatments for ten years and loved the benefits. I also appreciated the focused and gentle way my acupuncturist worked with me. I was drawn to the healing arts and began investigating Oriental Medicine. Upon interviewing several acupuncturists I found I was fascinated with their work and the concept of wholeness.

Once it was clear I wanted to become an acupuncturist, I returned to graduate school. Having had no previous background in medicine or science, the course of study was a daunting prospect, however with the support of my family I resigned from my position and took the plunge.

I earned a Master’s degree from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in San Francisco, in addition to completing a two-year Advanced Study Program of Classical Five Element Acupuncture.

Though I’m qualified with my own practice, I continue to participate in Five Element Acupuncture Training with Khosrow Khalighi and Shirley Nichols, foremost Classical Five Element practitioners and instructors. I am licensed with both the State and National Boards to practice acupuncture and oriental medicine.
